Mokume Gane Compass Necklace, Engraved Nautical Jewelry, Copper Pendant

This is a compass design that we have cut out of a material called mokume-gane, which mixes different metals together creating an interesting swirl pattern. The particular mix of metals used for this design have been copper and white copper. We then deeply engraved the features of the compass on top.

Mokume-gane is a type of Japanese mixed-metal consisting of swirls of different metals layered in patterns as you can see in the picture. This material is unique because it gives the appearance of natural wood grain. When several layers of differently colored metals form a sandwich of alloys it's called a "billet." The billet is then manipulated in such a way that a pattern resembling wood grain emerges over its surface. Since there are numerous ways of producing the mokume gane patterns, every "wood-grain-like" structure will look slightly different from the picture! We then deeply engrave the details you see on top but not all the way through.

This pendant is roughly the same size as a silver nickel. You may use this size chart to determine what works best for you.

Medium: 0.9in ≈ could fit inside a quarter
Large: 1.2in ≈ could fit inside a half dollar
Extra Large: 1.5in ≈ could fit inside a silver dollar
